Nelson Pounamu earrings ~ Taana, meaning talons, due to the shape of the pieces.
The Pounamu has been set in sterling silver, which has been oxidised (darkened) and then sanded to reveal the silver on the higher points.
Nelson Pounamu is found in the Nelson Region of the South Island. These particular pieces are almost like a Grey, duck egg blue, with dark green inclusions, one of the stones also has a couple of specks of Pyrite which reflects in the light nicely.
