Whetū, meaning star, because it is by far the most labour intensive piece I have crafted, but also the most rewarding.
The beautiful, translucent Nelson Pounamu has been set in sterling silver, which has been oxidised (darkened) and then sanded to reveal the silver on the higher points.
The back of the piece has been left open so that the Pounamu can rest against your neck/chest.
The handcrafted chain is 45cm long and can be adjusted to be shorter if needed.
Nelson Pounamu is found in the Nelson Region of the South Island. This particular piece is translucent with a tinge of yellow at the bottom.
